Back Pain Remedies - Protect your Back!
Finding the right back pain remedies to ease your pain is essential if you are suffering chronic, daily pain that is interfering with your lifestyle. Nobody likes to be in pain and low back pain can be irritating and disruptive, impacting seriously on your life. Low back pain occurs quite commonly and is typically not caused by an illness or injury. Sometimes the pain can be severe but it disappears quickly, other times it might be chronic.
In general, low back pain that lasts for more than a week will go away on its own in about a month. If your back pain is severe, there are a variety of back pain remedies you can consider.
Many people choose to take non-prescription pain tablets which are effective back pain remedies. Aspirin, acetaminophen, and ibuprofen can be taken at the first sign of pain in the lower back, hip, and leg.
Other back pain remedies do not rely on drug therapy. Many people find relief by applying a cold pack to the painful area. You can also use a bag of ordinary ice wrapped in a towel. Apply the pack to the affected area for five to ten minutes at a time for the first two days of pain. If after this time the pain does not resolve use a heating pad instead.
Many people mistakenly believe that they can obtain back pain relief by lying down. In fact, when you have back pain you need to keep moving! However, you do need to protect your back. Make sure to avoid sudden movements like turning or bending that could aggravate the pain. Try to avoid bed rest while employing back pain remedies. It could worsen the condition and make your remedies ineffective.
If you have tried the abovementioned back pain remedies and are still in intense pain after about a week you may need to see your doctor. Spinal manipulation is sometimes effective and can be carried out by a licensed physical therapist, chiropractor, or osteopathic physician. If these measures have not helped your pain within four to six weeks you might need further examination of the area to uncover the source of your pain.
